Surgery, Minervini (SIU): "54% of all procedures in urology are robotic."

At the national congress, 'on the drug front, we're moving toward increasingly effective therapies for bladder cancer'
"Robotic surgery in urology is widely used. 54% of robotic procedures in Italy are in the urology field." Robotics is used to treat prostate, kidney, and bladder cancer. Research in this field in the coming years will analyze the numerous robotic platforms coming onto the market, which will therefore need to be evaluated in terms of feasibility and results." This is how Andrea Minervini, national councilor of the Italian Society of Urology, presented the latest developments in urological tumors at the SIU National Congress underway in Sorrento.
"In the field of medical oncology," Minervini continues, "the ESMO European Congress has produced important results in the treatment of bladder cancer. These results are significantly changing the nature of treatment, which in the coming years will develop to include next-generation drugs that will yield more significant results, prolonging the lives of these patients, and which will be integrated with surgical therapy, which is increasingly being developed in the robotic field."
